EU Function B - Designing Procedures and Projects

(formerly known as FELASA C)

Our advanced lab animal science course provides a thorough introduction into the design of animal studies as well as the requirements for legal authorisation. The theory (approx. 24h) is provided via E-Learning which allows you to work through the modules in your own time from the comfort of your home. The practical training in Berlin offers opportunities for hands-on exercises and group work to practise the transfer of your knowledge onto real-world scenarios.

The syllabus complies with the training and further education framework* of the EU (Article 23, 2010/63 EU) and covers the following modules:

  • 9 “Ethics, animal welfare and the three Rs (level 2)”

  • 10 “Design of procedures and projects (level 1)”

  • 11 “Design of procedures and projects (level 2)”

    The prior or simultaneous completion of EU function A, D training is a prerequisite. In case you completed your training some time ago and have not participated in animal research recently we advise you to enquire with your local authorities or animal welfare officer whether the advanced course will suffice or whether you need additional EU function A, D training.
